Week 13: Glaciers, Paris, Sea Levels

Week 13: Glaciers, Paris, Sea Levels 1. What did you do in lab today? In lab we looked at climate change locally, regionally, and globally. My group specifically focused on the effects of climate change on agricultural and plants. We focused on points like observed impacts on our agriculture, how our farmers can adapt, and questions we derived from the data.  2. What was the big question? The big question was "What are the big issues of climate change?". There was a focus on precipitation, temperature, and agriculture. We answered these questions through presentations on each specific focus working in three groups.  3. What did you learn in lecture? In lecture we talked about how important it is to not just teach the students in our classroom, but the community that your students are apart of. Changing habits can start school wide then transfer to community wide if people are educated. Teachers do not just have to teach children they can teach anyone! Textbook: 1. What did yo...

Week 12: Climate Change

Week 12: Climate Change 1. What did you do in lab today? Primary Points: Human caused, renewable energy is a solution, and not a future problem its a now problem. Major Issues: Glaciers melting, Sunny day flooding, Coal consumption, Greenhouse gasses, Deforestation and Coastal ecosystems completely knocked down. Questions:  I want to understand why countries are getting the normal half a year rainfall in five hours. What causes this?? If we were to implement a carbon tax into our country, how would it exactly work? Does the tax get added on to each singular item that contributes to carbon in the atmosphere? Teaching: I learn best through videos so I would show my students videos/movies etc. 2. What was the big question? Question: What causes rainfall? Answer: Rainfall occurs when the sun causes water on earths surface to evaporate, creating water vapor that rises upwards through the atmosphere, condenses, and becomes heavy enough to fall back on the earth. 3. What did you lea...

Week 11: Climate Change

Week 11: Climate Change 1. What did you do in lab today? In lab we learned about that there are three variables that cause weather those are water, heat, and air. We used these to have discussions about weather and our previous knowledge of weather. At the end of lab we worked on an assignment related to tracking weather on different weather apps and websites.  2. What was the big question? The big questions today in lab were "What is the water cycle?" and "What is weather?". These were answered through discussions with our table mates and talking through everything we knew about each one. My table drew a visual of the water cycle with evaporation, condensation, precipitation, and surface water. When we talked about weather we listed different terms we related to weather apps, weather in general, or watching the weather on the news.  3. What did you learn in Thursdays lecture? No lecture due to exam. Textbook: 1. What did you learn? I learned that when water in clo...
